Natural no-calorie sweetener

Stevia is a herb stevia (Stevia rebaudiana) over any artificial sweetener. It is a good substitute while you wean yourself off so much sugar or artificial sweeteners. Known in South America as the “sweet herb,” stevia has been used for over 400 years without ill-effect. Stevia has been enormously successful and popular in Japan, where it has been in use for more than 20 years, now rivaling Equal and Sweet’N Low. In its concentrated form it’s 200–300 times sweeter than sugar, so just a small portion of stevia will sweeten anything. In its dried leaf form it’s about 10 to 15 times sweeter than sugar.

Stevia has been known in the US since about the early 1900s, but pressure from the sugar import trade blocked its use as a commodity. Some countries are trying to make stevia illegal to protect the giants companies that produce artificial sweeteners. Today stevia is slowly gaining steam as a sugar substitute, despite the hurdles. For those of you, who want to overcome cravings for sugar without resorting to artificial chemicals, or give up artificial sweeteners – stevia is a great option. However, eventually there should be a move to re-educate your taste bubs so you don’t need so much sweet stuff, not even stevia.

More importantly, we can do a lot to support your body in other ways to reduce your dependency on sugar and sugar substitutes. Once your body returns to its natural state of balance, you lose your cravings and you have control over sweet things, as opposed to sweet things having control over you. Artificial sweeteners are chemicals, not food, toxins not nutrients to our system! Many people are amazed at how much better they feel after breaking their artificial sweetener or sweetener habit.
